Huddersfield RUFC Meet Up.
Carter Croft (FN 60-65) writes:
“I met up with Dick Lockwood (FS 59-64) at the Armathwaite Dinner. We discussed the difficulty of the Yorkshire Branch in spite of all the hard work put in by Steve Crossley-Smith (SH 47-52), who has done a great job holding the Branch together for many years.
Dick and I decided to organise a luncheon for OSB friends at Huddersfield RUFC. Dick chose the Fylde game, as that was one of my former clubs. We had a lively pre-match beverage in the Presidential Bar, old pals catching up on the past, followed by a steak pie and dessert. Then we were bundled out to watch the match, Huddersfield having one of those seasons that one wants to forget! The home side set off very well, dominating for 60 minutes, only to see a Fylde come back using their three quarters to win the match at the death; for me a satisfactory result, enjoyed in the sunshine by all who attended.
A big thank you to Dick, who has offered to repeat this event next season.
If any OSBs would like to attend next year, please contact Pam Rumney or myself, you would be more than welcome to join us.
It was a storming day out and I hope those who came will repeat the occasion.
Those who attended were: Dick Lockwood (FS 59-64), Anthony Dearden (FS 62-65), Graham Crowther (SH 58-64), David Cade (FS 59-64) and Maggie Cade, Chris Haywood (SH 60-63), Paul Haywood (SH 60-65), Rod Murray (G 58-63), David Lord
(SH 60-65), Duncan Peel (SH 59-63) and Carter Croft (FN 60-65).
A big thank you to Maggie Cade for putting up with us all. I hope she will attend again.”
